The 2018 PridePunk Smart contract system comprised two main parts: The ERC721 Token + CryptoPunks Contract by Larva Labs. There was a planned third part, a MetaPunkController that was not completed until 2022.

2018 System Design

The 2018 PridePunk system was built on a prototype “MetaPunk” Smart contract that was deployed and was designed to work with a wrapper contract and the CryptoPunk smart contract.

Originally the 2018 System required a user to lock their CryptoPunk inside the MetaPunk.sol contract. PridePunks were also the first NFT project that would lock up an NFT, wrap it, and mint a new NFT. An idea that was novel for the time.
