tl:dr

PridePunks stored individual images in an early form of IPFS. These links have since been dropped from the network, but the authenticity of the original images can be proven from Amazon S3 immutable creation timestamps.

About

PridePunks were originally designed to be “wrapped punks”, inheriting the metadata of the underlying contract, but changing the image to add a background. The only element of metadata that was intended to be different was image background.

CryptoPunks were not NFT’s and never had individual token metadata such as “hats” or “hair” on-chain, only a hash of a composite image. PridePunks similarly did not have individual token metadata but stored individual images in an early form of IPFS. These links have since been dropped from the network, but the authenticity of the original images can be proven from Amazon S3 immutable creation timestamps.

The decision to add a rainbow was in celebration of Pride Week, June 2018, and was a personal statement on the lack of inclusivity in Web3.
